The underground of Plaza Bridge turned into a contemporary art space by the collectif Aki Nibi Ishpiming

Ottawa’s first all-night celebration of contemporary art on the streets held last Saturday September 22nd was a success beyond all expectations. As part of the organizing team, we are very grateful to Ottawa’s people for their massive support to Nuit Blanche and its more than 150 participating artists. More than 15,000 art lovers of all ages walked the Hintonburg and ByWard streets, enjoying unique contemporary art installations and performances by Canadian and international artists. Galleries, artist-run centres, restaurants and bars were packed until the wee hours of the morning. A joyful ambiance was felt everywhere. Ottawa, a city considered by many as boring and bureaucrat, had finally an opportunity to reveal its hidden artsy side. Nuit Blanche Ottawa 2012 was indeed the greatest arts celebration ever held in Canada’s capital. You can have a peek in this five-minute compilation of clips by Peter Simpson of the Ottawa Citizen:
