My painting workshop crit!
My “crit” was prefaced by Yves asking me to repeat something I had said earlier in the day – “I struggle to find a “higher” meaning/reason/purpose for my painting.” On the one hand, I enjoy doing fairly traditional landscapes. However, it does then allow me to paint a more rapid, more expressionist version where I am better able to capture the “essence” of the scene in front of me. Although it is not yet perfectly clear, I think there is a connection between this higher meaning and this essence. Yves suggested that I go away with my wife for a year, to a special place and work on clarifying the link! Yes!
